More than 60 Israeli strikes hit military sites in just a few hours across Syriaalmost a week after an Islamist-led rebel alliance overthrew President Bashar al-Assad, an NGO reported.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH), based in the United Kingdom, recorded 61 bombings in less than five hours in Syria.
Israel continues to intensify its air strikes against this territory and targeting in particular tunnels under mountains that contain ballistic missile depots, the NGO added.
The OSDH, which has an extensive network of sources on the ground, counted 446 Israeli bombings since the fall of Assad on December 8.
The OSDH reported other Israeli bombings a few hours earlier, which destroyed “a scientific institute” and “other military positions in Barzeh, on the northeastern edge of Damascus.”
The Israeli Defense Minister, Israel Katz, in turn, ordered the army to “prepare to remain” all winter in the containment zone between Israel and Syria.on the Golan Heights plateau, mostly annexed by Israel.
Israeli troops entered the containment zone just after the fall of Al Assad. The UN denounced a “violation” of the 1974 withdrawal agreement between Syria and Israel.
Since al-Assad fled Syria to Russia, Israeli warplanes have targeted the remains of the Syrian army in dozens of bombing raids and missile attacks throughout the country.
The latest wave of attacks targeted army camps of the former regime in Damascus, according to the OSDH, adding that 60 people have been killed in the bombings so far.
