Real Madrid remains hopeful that the muscle injury that forced Kylian Mbappé to leave the field against Atalanta is just an overload, which would allow him to return to action soon.
The French striker, a key player in the team, limped out of the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo after feeling discomfort in his left hamstring 35 minutes into the Champions League match, setting off alarm bells in the Madrid crowd.
Mbappé had started the match in spectacular fashion, scoring the goal that put the whites ahead and actively participating in the attack. However, the injury forced him to ask for a change, leaving a notable void in Carlo Ancelotti’s team.
The Italian coach tried to calm things down after the game, ensuring that the first evaluations pointed to muscle overload.
“It is a discomfort in the ischium. It doesn’t seem serious at all,” Ancelotti commented, suggesting moderate optimism about the French star’s situation.
Real Madrid rests before the Intercontinental Cup
Back in Madrid, Mbappé will rest to reduce inflammation in the affected area before undergoing an MRI in Valdebebas on Thursday. This examination will determine the severity of the injury and whether it will be necessary for him to miss any more games in addition to Saturday’s visit to Rayo Vallecano in LaLiga.
Real Madrid’s main objective is to have Mbappé available for the Intercontinental Cup final on December 18 in Qatar, a tournament that could mark the Frenchman’s first international title with the white team.
The expectation at the club is that Mbappé has acted prudently by stopping before suffering a more serious injury, which would allow for an earlier return. For now, the Madridistas are crossing their fingers and hoping for good news that confirms that their star will be ready to lead the team in the decisive final stage of the year.
