Four albums by Latin artists appear on the list of Best Albums of 2024 for Rolling Stone. The works of Shakira, Young Miko, Peso Pluma and Kali Uchis stand out in the ranking of the specialized magazine.
Women Don’t Cry Anymoreby Shakira, stands out at number 27 on the list. The album is the Colombian singer’s first in seven years and the one that brings her back to the stage with her tour Women No Longer Cry World Tour.
“It is a testament to Shakira’s relevance and mastery. She uses the album to share her huge spotlight with a diverse list of artists, songwriters and producers. that they learned from their manual,” says Rolling Stone about the album.
In 41st place on the list is the Puerto Rican Young Miko with Att., the second of his career. “If Young Miko’s debut album, Trap Kittyturned her into a promising Latin trap artist, Att. “consolidated her as a pop star who came to stay and prosper,” says the magazine.
The Mexican Featherweight is also in the ranking. Exodus occupies the 74th place on the list of Rolling Stones. “Peso Pluma is trying to transcend Mexican music. This couldn’t be more obvious on Éxodo, a two-disc behemoth that unites two worlds: its roots in corridos tumbados with the charm of American rap music,” the publication reviews.
The last album by a Latin artist that appears in the ranking is orchidsby Kali Uchis. The album by the American singer of Colombian origin is ranked 96th.
“The album balances a careful mix of power and vulnerability, adding complexity to notions of Latinas beyond stereotypes as lustful sirens or saucy agitators,” she notes. Rolling Stone.
The list of the specialized magazine is led by bratby Charli XCX. They follow him Cowboy Carterby Beyoncé; Manning Fireworksby MJ Lenderman; Short n’ Sweetby Sabrina Carpenter; and Hit Me Hard and Softby Billie Eilish.
The ranking also includes Eternal Sunshineby Ariana Grande, and The Tortured Poets Departmentby Taylor Swift.
