The panorama seems to begin to become clearer for Julio Urías who could finally return to baseball in Mexico after more than a year without being able to play as a result of the episode of domestic violence that cost him to stay out of Los Angeles Dodgers and the Major Leagues.
And recently rumors arose about the possibility that the 28-year-old Mexican left-handed pitcher could join a team that lives in the Mexican Pacific League. It would be the Tomateros de Culiacán.
Talk about this option began after Julio Urías’ lawyer, Edgardo Quintanilla, revealed that the pitcher could play for any team outside the territory of the United States if he received special permission from the North American authorities.
“You could work without problems outside the United States if you have had good behavior this year and if you request permission from a judge in that city”commented the lawyer in statements collected by the newspaper Marca in its Mexican version.
It must be remembered that Julio Urías is in the middle of a sentence of 36 months on unsupervised probation, one month of community work and a weekly course for a year on sexist violence after the accusation against him for domestic violence. .
The then Los Angeles Dodgers player attacked his partner during an MLS soccer game in September 2023 and said attack was recorded in a video in which the Mexican pitcher is seen struggling with his wife, whom he ended up throwing a punch.
The Dodgers immediately placed the player on administrative leave that same September, since which he has not participated in any games. This situation cost the Mexican his career in the Major Leagues after ending his contract that same season with the ninth Angelina.
In this way, Julio Urías has not been able to pitch since then and there has been talk of the baseball player’s intention to try to resume his career, which until now has not been possible. He has wanted to return to the MLB although without luck, there has also been talk of a summer league although it has not materialized.
The Julio Urías debacle came at a great time in which he aspired to renew his contract with the Dodgers, but the situation changed drastically after the situation in which the pitcher who is now fighting to resume his career was involved.
