July 25, 2024 marked a “before” and an “after” in the history of the Sinaloa Cartelbecause that day he fell into the hands of American justice Ismael “El Mayo” Zambadaleader of the criminal organization.

After being the victim of an apparent betrayal carried out by Joaquín Guzmán Lópezson of “El Chapo” Guzmánthis triggered an internal war in the cartel that has left a trail of blood unlike anything seen before in Sinaloa.

On the one hand, there is the faction of Los Chapitosled by Chapo’s two sons who are still free: Ivan Archivaldo and Jesus Alfredo. On the other hand, it is La Mayizathat is, those who have given their support to the son of “El Mayo”, Ismael Zambada Sicairosalias “Mayito Flaco”.

And while wars are fought in the streets of Culiacán that leave people dead daily, the Mexican authorities do the same and have captured some key elements of both factions, with the Los Chapitos group being the most affected in that sense.

One of the most recent blows is the arrest of a man identified as “The Dead”who was head of hitmen of the armed cell “Los Cazadores”, which works for Los Chapitos fighting for control of Sonora with other criminal groups.

A few weeks before, on November 6, elements of the Armed Forces captured “The Kiki”head of the armed group “Los Pelones”, another of the hitmen cells under the orders of Los Chapitos.

Added to these arrests is the one that was made on November 3 against Marcelino Ticante Castroalias “El Fantasma”, who became Chapo Guzmán’s security chief and, after spending several years in prison and being released, he joined the sons of his former boss to fight against La Mayiza.

But one of the most important blows was the arrest of Mario Alexander, alias “The Piyi”identified as in charge of the security of Iván Archivaldo Guzmán, who was detained by military elements on September 19 in Culiacán.

In this way we can see that, while Los Chapitos wage war against La Mayiza, several key players have fallen off the radar of the authorities and fall into the hands of justice.
