A few days ago, an important arrest was announced in an exclusive area of Riverside, California, as it involved a high-ranking drug trafficker from the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
Fernando Gutierrez Ochoaalias “El Guacho” and identified as son-in-law of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantestop leader of the cartel, lived comfortably in US territory after having faked his death, so he had disappeared from the authorities’ radar… until now.
After his capture, the question arose in relation to the luxurious residence that this drug trafficker lived in together with the daughter of “El Mencho”and finally it was learned that the owner is Victor Alfonso Camacho Ortegaa tequila businessman and owner of the company Pasión Azul SA de CV
According to information revealed by Illicit Investigations, the DEA identified Pasión Azul SA de CV, a company specialized in agricultural services for the production of tequila, as the registered owner of the mansion, acquired in 2023 for the amount of 1.2 million dollars , which would have been paid in cash.
Given the accusations, Camacho Ortega, through his lawyer, Víctor Beltrán García, filed an amparo in the state of Jalisco to avoid any legal action against him.
The Mexican businessman assured that, although the residence is his property, he rented it to a person and they in turn sublet it to a third party. He said he did not know the people who lived on his property and much less that these were under investigation for links to drug trafficking.
This testimony is part of the arguments with which his lawyer promoted protection against any arrest warrant that the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) requests against him.
When interviewed by the newspaper La Crónica, lawyer Beltrán García stated that his client “is an honorable person, adheres to the law in all his commercial and private transactions, without debts to the treasury and generates sources of employment for the development of Mexico.” .
Although the company has not been formally accused of committing a crime, the use of its name in the purchase of the mansion has raised questions about its role in the transfer and settlement of “El Guacho” in the United States, as well as an alleged connection between the CJNG and the tequila industry.
