The Spanish Lamine Yamal, famous end of the Spain team and the FC Barcelona, won this wednesday the ‘Golden Boy’ award, awarded by the newspaper ‘Tuttosport’ to the greatest talent in the European leagues under 21 years of age.
Yamal was awarded the prestigious recognition after an outstanding season in which he established himself as the star of the ‘culé’ team and in which he won the European Championship with Spain, as well as the trophy for best young player in the same tournament. In total, he scored five goals and gave seven assists in the Spanish League.
“It is an honor to win this trophy. It’s a dream, I’m very happy. Thanks to ‘Tuttosport’ and the jury. “I don’t want to forget my teammates and coaching staff from both Barcelona and the Spanish team,” said the winner, in a video that was screened in Turin, headquarters of the Italian newspaper.
“Very happy for more”he added.
Born in 2007, the talented winger is only 17 years old inherited the award that Englishman Jude Bellingham won last season; and joined the recent success of the Blaugrana club in this sense, which had Pedro González ‘Pedri’ and Pablo Páez Gavira ‘Gavi’ as champions in the 2021 and 2022 editions, respectively.
Aitana Bonmatí repeated as “Golden Woman”
The also Spanish Aitana BonmatíBarcelona midfielderwas named the ‘Golden Woman’ of the season.
