Mike Johnson, Speaker of the House of Representatives, announced that transgender women will not be able to enter the Capitol bathrooms assigned for biological women.

The Louisiana Republican joined the controversy generated regarding spaces designated exclusively for biological women that was proposed by the members of his party through a bill.

Recently, Nancy Mace, a Republican representative from South Carolina, introduced an initiative aimed at prohibiting transgender women from using the bathrooms assigned to biological women in the Capitol.

“I am absolutely willing to stand in the way of any man who wants to be in a women’s bathroom, in our locker rooms, in our locker rooms. “I will be there fighting you every step of the way,” the North Carolina conservative told several news outlets after formally presenting her bill pending its approval.

However, Some Democrats pointed out that it is all a strategy to distract citizens using the figure of elected representative Sarah McBride who will be the first openly transgender member of Congress.

In this regard, McBride herself downplayed the fact that there is no bathroom in the property for representatives of the community it represents.

“I’m not here to fight over bathrooms. I’m here to fight for Delawareans and to reduce the costs faced by families. Like all members, I will follow the rules outlined by President Johnson, even if I do not agree with them,” he said.

While the future of Nancy Mace’s proposal is analyzed and determined, The president of the House of Representatives limited himself to reminding members of Congress that, to avoid problems, a bathroom designated for a gender other than the established one should not be used.

“All sex-segregated facilities in the Capitol and House office buildings, such as restrooms, locker rooms, and locker rooms, are reserved for individuals of that biological sex.

“It is important to note that each member office has its own private bathroom and unisex bathrooms are available throughout the Capitol,” he said.
