Accused of alleged war crimes committed during Israel’s conflict in the Gaza Strip, Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister, already has an arrest warrant. issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Through a declaration, The court based in the Netherlands points out that there are compelling reasons to give the Jewish leader and his former defense minister, Yoav Gallant, criminally liable for war crimes, exercised through the use of methods such as “hunger” and “crimes against humanity of murder, persecution and other inhuman acts.”

“The Chamber found that there are reasonable grounds to believe that both individuals intentionally and knowingly deprived the civilian population of Gaza of objects indispensable for their survival, including food, water, medicines and medical supplies, as well as fuel and electricity,” the panel wrote. of three judges in their unanimous decision to issue arrest warrants against Netanyahu and Gallant.

Similarly, An arrest warrant was also issued against Mohammed Diab Ibrahim Al-Masri, who is also identified as Mohammed Deif and for being one of the intellectual authors of the attack that Israel suffered on October 7 of last year at the mercy of the Islamic group called the Islamic Resistance Movement, al (Hamas) and which left at least 1,300 people dead.

Regarding this character, Israeli authorities say he was executed in an airstrike in September, but Hamas has not yet confirmed his death.

It should be noted that even though Israel is not a member of the CPU, the Palestinian Authority is a party to the Rome Statute that created the court and is annexed to it as the State of Palestine.

Despite the orders issued, the court does not have police to enforce the arrest warrants and it depends on the cooperation of its member states to comply with its accusations, so the possibility of arresting the indicated figures is unlikely.

However, several analysts agree that this incident complicates the possibility of reaching a peace agreement in the Middle East.
