Juan Anthony Carrillo, 46 years old and resident of Alhambrareceived the maximum sentence legally available for striking a man about 45 times with a baton in a period of 41 seconds, according to a DOJ statement.
“Officers have a special duty and a special obligation to maintain the trust of citizens who monitor“said United States District Judge Wesley L. Hsu at the hearing in which he handed down the sentence.

At approximately 4:00 am on January 16, 2022another VAPD officer first detained the 34-year-old victim, referred to in court documents only by the initials RV, at the West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
