Businesswoman and reality star Kim Kardashian is ready to restart construction on her ambitious mansion in Palm Springs, California.
After several years of delays, The US Sun newspaper revealed that Kardashian submitted a new request for permits to resume the project, which will require an investment of $8 million.
This property, which she acquired in 2019 with her then-husband Kanye West for $6.3 million, came under her sole ownership following their divorce in 2023. The home’s design will reportedly include a 20,310-square-foot residence with seven bedrooms, a pool and spa. In addition, it will have luxury areas such as terraces and outdoor spaces surrounded by vegetation.
Why has construction been delayed?
The project, which originally began planning in 2021, has faced several setbacks. Local authorities requested modifications to comply with fire safety regulations and construction specifications, which led to the expiration of the initial permit. Now, with this new request, Kardashian and her team hope to obtain the green light to move forward with the work.
The mansion’s design is the work of renowned Japanese architect Tadao Andō, famous for his minimalist and modern approach. Kardashian has publicly shown her admiration for the architect’s work, sharing details of the meetings and the creative process behind this “dream house” on her social networks.
“I met with the teacher in person, Tadao Ando, to review and discuss a dream project we have been working on for the past two years. I visited their office in Japan so we could put the finishing touches on before starting construction. I am deeply honored and incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work with him and finally see this special project come to life ✨ #tadaoando”wrote the protagonist of “The Kardashians” in her Instagram post.
The location of the mansion
The future property will be located in the exclusive La Quinta sector, known for housing luxury residences. There, Kardashian will share a neighborhood with her mother Kris Jenner and her younger sister Kylie Jenner, who also own impressive mansions in the area.
The area is famous for its proximity to iconic events like the Coachella festival, reinforcing its appeal among celebrities. Now, all eyes are on this project, which is sure to become one of the most impressive homes in the region.
