For Alexis Vega there is no greater science when it comes to deciphering what the Mexican National Team has to do to try to turn around the quarterfinal series of the Concacaf Nations League after what was the Aztec defeat against Honduras (2-0) in San Pedro Sula.
The Toluca forward in the Liga MX spoke with TUDN about the keys of the team led by Javier Aguirre ahead of the return match against the Catracho team against whom they will seek to achieve a positive result that will allow them to continue transcending in the competition.
“We have to come out focused from the first minute, look for the game, not get carried away by the blows, not waste time due to a foul or complaining to the referee”said Alexis Vega, showing the attitude that the Tri players will show in this Tuesday’s game in Toluca.
“That is going to help us a lot. “We have to make the most perfect game possible.”highlighted the attacker who was a substitute in the first leg and entered in the 58th minute in place of Julián Quiñones shortly before Luis Palma scored the double that sealed the Honduran victory (m.64 and m.83).
According to Alexis Vega, it will also be essential to be able to start discounting the goal difference with respect to its Central American rival as soon as possible in order to be closer and closer to achieving the goal of turning the series around.
“Within the first 20 minutes we have to try to score our first goal and if possible, scoring two in the first half would be perfect”said the 26-year-old attacker who was not in the comeback achieved by Mexico against Honduras in the last quarterfinals of the Nations League.
In relation to the responsibility for the adverse result, Alexis Vega does not hide and assumes the same position as Javier Aguirre by recognizing the fault they had in the defeat, although he also recognizes that they are clear about what they failed so that it does not happen again.
“We are the ones responsible, the ones who play, the ones who always try to give a good version. It is a lot of responsibility for us, but we are calm”commented the player who also highlighted the work of “Vasco” Aguirre.
“He gave us a lot of peace after the game. In the group we talked about what had happened and we are all on the same page that we are going to play a great game, a perfect game and that we are going to achieve it like a year ago.”the player finished.
