On Saturday, Denmark’s Victoria Kjaer was crowned Miss Universe 2024. The 21-year-old is the first representative of Denmark to take the crown of universal beauty.
Before Kjaer’s coronation, the other candidates who completed the top 5 finalists who advance to the question and answer round were: Miss Venezuela, Ileana Márquezwho placed fourth finalist; Miss Thailand, Opal Suchata Chuangsrimthird finalist; Miss Mexico, María Fernanda Beltránsecond runner-up and Miss Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshinafirst runner-up.
The five candidates gave very good answers to the different questions that each one had to answer. about, for example, respect, how they face difficult situations, being judged or the qualities they consider a successful leader should have; however, They had to go to a second round of questions due to a translation error in Miss Venezuela’s question.
The question from Ileana Márquez, who closed the round of questions and answers, was to describe the ideal woman and what she had in common with her.; However, due to a translation error, the interpreter changed the question to describe her ideal day.
After the misunderstanding, The judges decided to do a second round of questions and answers with a single question for all the candidates. Each of the participants used headphones while their partners responded.
The question chosen for everyone was: “Miss Universe has inspired many women, what is the message you would give them now?”
The new round of questions and answers gave the candidates the opportunity to improve their previous participation and offer answers that connected with the audience and better showed their personalities.
These were the candidates’ responses:
Miss Nigeria: “As a woman who has faced adversity, I am here as someone who has inspired, I have not only fought for myself but for Africa”.
Miss Mexico: “As my social project sayswe are facing serious problems on social platforms and the message I want to convey to the world is that we must fight, and approach this situation with emotional intelligence. We need emotional intelligence to control our emotions so we can convey our message.”
Miss Denmark: “My message to the whole world, It doesn’t matter where you come from, it doesn’t matter the past, that’s not going to define who I am, I’m here because I want to change.”I want to make history, so never give up, always believe in your dreams.”
Miss Thailand: “The message I want to convey to you, that you always have hope. Working with my project with people who have breast cancer, I feel that everyone has hope and that tomorrow will be a better day.”
Miss Venezuela: “Good evening, the most important message I am going to give tonight is not only for the women who are here but for everyone. Tonight’s crown is not for the one represented by Miss Universe, tonight’s crown is another for each woman who has given her respect, love and visibility.”.
