The MLB announced the Gold Gloves and Silver Bats, but the biggest prize remains: the MVPs.
Among the main contenders are two of the most prominent figures in modern baseball: Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge. Both players top the list of candidates in their respective leagues.
The dates that everyone is waiting for are set between Monday, November 18 and Thursday, November 21, when the winners of the MLB’s most prestigious awards will be announced, including the MVP, Rookie of the Year, Manager of the Year and Cy Young in each league.
The awards will be announced in a special program on MLB Network, on November 21 at 6 pm ET, in which, in that same order, the winners of the different categories will be announced.
The big favorites for the MVP
The Japanese Shohei Ohtani, who in 2024 achieved what many considered almost impossible, is the great favorite to be chosen as the MVP of the National League.
His first season with the Los Angeles Dodgers was historic after achieving the never-before-seen feat: first player of the history in achieving 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a season.
His impact with the bat was enough for the Dodgers to be crowned champions. Ohtani will fight for the award with Francisco Lindor (New York Mets) and Ketel Marte (Arizona Diamondbacks).
On the other hand, in the American League, Aaron Judge is the favorite to win the award.
After a brilliant season, Judge led the league in several offensive categories, standing out in home runs (58), runs batted in (144) and walks (133).
Judge showed why he is one of the most fearsome hitters in baseball and that took the Bronx team back to the postseason, although they lost in the World Series to the Dodgers.
The Most Valuable Player award has been given out since 1931, and its voting process remains one of the most respected traditions in baseball.
In each league, two journalists from each franchise city vote for 10 players in a system that awards 14 points to the first9 points for second, 8 points for third, and so on until tenth place.
This scoring system has been designed to ensure that the best players of the year receive the recognition they deserve.
