Thousands of Mexican and foreign tourists come to the tourist destination of Cancun every year due to the splendor of its beaches, which is why the authorities maintain intense surveillance in order to ensure their safety, although this is not the case in all cases.

And sometimes, those in charge of enforcing the law are the ones who break it, as happened recently with two municipal police officers who were arrested after being accused of sexual abuse and concealment.

According to a statement issued by the Quintana Roo Security Prosecutor’s Office, the agents identified only as Saúl Vladimir and Alfredo were arrested after a complaint of sexual abuse against a Colombian citizen.

According to the research, The police arrested the victim under the pretext that he had committed a crime.

Subsequently, they put her on a patrol car and took her to an unknown location, where Saúl Vladimir subjected her to a “routine inspection” that led to sexual abuse, under the promise that they would help her avoid jail. The act had the complicity of his partner.

In this regard, the municipal president of Cancún, Ana Patricia Peraltaannounced the arrest of both officers.

“As I have told you, I am not going to allow at any time the rights or physical integrity of any citizen to be violated,” he stressed, and then expressed that “the bad actions of some police officers stain an entire corporation that is doing great job.”

Finally, the official highlighted that this arrest sends a clear message to the police force that there will be consequences for this type of crime and others, but also to citizens to report inappropriate behavior, abuses of authority and acts of corruption.
