There is access to free university studies in 34 states, according to a report

WASHINGTON.- In 34 states, there are free community college programs for tuition-free college and job training.following an expansion of the program by President Joe Biden’s government.

At an event with more than 200 educators, First Lady Jill Biden will talk about how More than 400 colleges, cities and states now offer college education and job traininga significant increase from 2015, when the then-Barack Obama administration, where Biden was vice president, launched the American College Promise Initiative.

“Several of the newest free community college plans were launched with the support of American Rescue Plan funds,” indicates a White House report shared with this newspaper.

Community colleges are of particular interest to the first lady, who is a teacher, seeking to connect studies with well-paid jobs.

This Wednesday’s event, “From Classroom to Career,” will discuss multi-year investments in education and its connection to different sectors, such as infrastructure, clean energy and advanced manufacturing.

Among others, the summit is attended by Cabinet members, such as Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona and other senior administration officials, state and local elected officials, community college presidents, K-12 leaders, unions, development leaders of the workforce from the nine White House workforce centers, business leaders, representatives of philanthropic organizations and students, the Biden Administration indicated.

Other actions in education

President Biden will announce progress on the investments of more than $80 billion dollars from the American Rescue Plan in strengthening and expanding the American workforce through education.

The Department of Education (ED) is indicated to publish a new analysis on postsecondary programs that provide pathways to jobs created or driven by the Invest in America agenda

“The Department will also launch a mapping tool to help the public find these programs and a public use data set that will allow researchers and policymakers to further explore these connections,” he said.

The Department of Commerce (DOC) will report $300 million for Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) workforce development initiatives to connect Americans to high-speed internet.

“The DOC will also announce that more than 80 community colleges in 22 states have created or
expanded programs to train semiconductor workers for advanced manufacturing jobs, driven by the CHIPS and Science Act,” it was noted.
