Republicans gain control of the House with 218 legislators

Republican lawmakers have gained enough seats in 2024 elections to control the House of Representatives of the United States, which assures them control of both houses of Congress and the White House, according to projections by The Associated Press.

The Republicans had already gained control of the Senate.

The Associated Press released the projection of the 218 Republican seats in the House based on Juan Ciscomani’s Republican victory in Arizonaalong with a victory in California with a slow count early Wednesday, which gave the GOP the 218 lawmakers in the House that make up the majority.

Republican Juan Ciscomani won reelection to the House of Representatives in Arizona’s 6th Congressional District, according to The Associated Press, giving him 218 Republican seats in the House.

The GOP preserved its majority in the House after taking back the Senate, handing it to President-elect Donald Trump a unified Congress to implement its agenda.
