The war they keep Los Chapitos against the allies Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada and his son affects practically all sectors in the state of Sinaloa, including politics.

This was recently pointed out by the Mexican journalist Anabel Hernandezwhose investigations have revealed links between members of organized crime and authorities in that country.

Through his podcast “Narcosystem”, he explained that Ivan Archivaldo and Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazarthe children of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán who remain free, have threatened several mayors of Sinaloa, specifically those who support the faction of “The Mayiza”.

These threats were made directly with some municipal presidents, as was the case of Estrella Palacios Dominguezmayor of Mazatlán, who on October 7 was intercepted by an armed group.

Although initially it was reported that the official was the victim of the theft of her truck, which appeared abandoned hours later, Anabel Hernández has another version based on unofficial sources.

According to the journalist, the incident was a direct warning from Los Chapitos, who intercepted Palacios to tell him: “Tell everyone that we are going to kill anyone who is not with us.”.

In this regard, the municipal president only limited herself to stating that she and her team were fine, and thanked the messages of support received.

Another mayor who suffered a similar threat is Octavio Bastidas Manjarrézmunicipal president of San Ignacio, and who, apparently, had also been stripped of his vehicle the same day that Palacios Domínguez was intercepted.

“The death threat launched by Los Chapitos to Sinaloan politicians linked to Mayo Zambada not only covers these municipal presidents, but also local deputies who owe them their positions,” said Anabel Hernández.

In this way it can be seen how the Sinaloa Cartelthrough its various factions, has used its power and influence to place allies in key government positions, ensuring political loyalties and territorial control.
