Óscar de la Hoya, promoter of Golden Boy Promotions, commented that Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramírez wants to fight Oleksandr Usyk at cruiserweight if the unified Russian champion decides to return to the category.
In an interview with DAZN’s The Roundtable, De la Hoya explained that like Usyk He has declared that he is interested in dropping to 200 pounds, a duel with Zurdo Ramírez could be feasible if the Mexican unifies against Chris Billam-Smith.
“I’m excited about that fight (with Billam-Smith), and not just because it’s going to unify. That’s exciting, because it doesn’t happen often, but it’s more exciting because Zurdo is talking about wanting a fight with Usykbecause Usyk could go down to cruiserweight again. “That’s very exciting,” he said.
“When everything is said, (Zurdo Ramírez) will be a historic figure in Mexican boxing if he unifies this title. And then imagine if he fights Usyk, and May something miraculous happen and I win. “Then we would have a legendary fighter in Zurdo Ramírez,” he added.
