The death of Liam Payne, former member of the famous boy band One Direction, has left a trail of shock and unresolved questions.

His tragic departure, which occurred on October 16 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, was initially attributed to a fall from the balcony of his room at the Casa Sur Palermo hotel. However, new details have come to light through the results of a toxicological test that sheds more clarity on his last moments and the state he was in at the time of his death.

According to Argentina’s public prosecutor’s office, the toxicology report revealed that Payne had traces of multiple substances in his system. The test, conducted from urine, blood and vitreous humor samples, found the presence of alcohol, cocaine and a prescription antidepressant. These substances could have affected his mental state, raising questions about his level of consciousness at the time of the fall.

The investigation suggests Payne may not have been fully conscious when the accident occurred. “This situation rules out the possibility of a conscious or voluntary act on the part of the victim,” Argentine authorities indicated to the media, suggesting that the altered state in which he was found prevented him from understanding his actions. This finding distances theories from a possible intentional act and highlights the seriousness of his condition at that time.

In addition to the toxicological details, Argentine authorities found several substances that appeared to be narcotics in the room, as well as bottles of alcohol and destroyed objects. Police are investigating the circumstances leading up to the incident and have interviewed witnesses, among them hotel employees and two people who were with Payne in his room hours before his death. According to authorities, some of the witnesses reported erratic behavior by Payne, which led one of the hotel employees to request emergency help before the fatal event.

Prosecutors have filed charges against three people related to the case. One of the accused is a person close to the singer, who is charged with the crime of abandonment of a person followed by death. Additionally, two individuals have been accused of providing illicit substances to Payne during his stay in Buenos Aires.

The former One Direction member, who had opened up about his struggle with mental health and addiction issues in recent years, He had publicly commented on his efforts to stay sober.

The investigation continues and it is still hoped that new analyzes can clarify the final moments of an artist who, despite his difficulties, left an indelible mark on the world of music.
