Raúl Jiménez's Fulham achieves epic comeback against Brentford

Fulham’s Raul Jimenez This Monday he staged a spectacular comeback in the final minutes to snatch victory from Brentford (2-1) thanks to a saving double from Harry Wilson who came on as a substitute and scored in added time to seal the match.

When everything seemed to indicate that the Mexican striker’s team was going to be left empty-handed at the end of matchday 10 of the Premier League, the Welsh winger appeared to change the course of the match and become the great hero unleashing madness at Craven Cottage, home of Fulham.

Vitaly Janelt (m.24) had opened the scoring for the visitors who were looking to continue their good form after a couple of consecutive victories in their last appearances. However, the locals had a small surprise prepared for later.

Raúl Jiménez, who is still established in Fulham’s starting eleven, could not be present on the scoreboard but was active in his team’s attack, who at no time gave up and ended up receiving their reward in the last breath.

The “Wolf of Tepeji” was on the field until the 73rd minute when he left his place to Brazilian Rodrigo Muniz. Until that moment the Cottagers were unable to decipher their rival and it was not until added time that they managed to reverse the result with an impressive comeback.

With barely 10 minutes on the court after having entered for Reiss Nelson (m.82), the Welshman finished off a cross from the right by Adama Traoré with an acrobatic play to put the score at 1-1 (m.90+2) .

Not even five minutes had passed and with Brentford asking for time to finish at least with a draw and Wilson appeared again, this time it was a cross from the left launched by Antonee Robinson to find the Welshman’s head that made it 2-1 final (m.90+7) and unleashed madness.

This result allowed the team led by the Portuguese Marcos Silva to regain victory after three consecutive games without being able to add three points in the Premier League after the defeats suffered against Manchester City (3-2) and Aston Villa (1- 3) in addition to the draw with Everton (1-1).

In this way, Raúl Jiménez’s Fulham is now in ninth place in the English tournament classification with a record of four wins, three draws and the same number of defeats to add a total of 15 points, the same as Mexican Julián Araujo’s Bournemouth and Newcastle.

This trio of teams are just three units away from the European competition positions for next season occupied by Arsenal (fifth) and Chelsea (fourth).
