Teens die in alleged alcohol-related crash in Riverside

Two teenagers died and one more had to be hospitalized with serious injuries as a result of an alleged drunk driving accident this Saturday in Riverside, authorities confirmed.

He Riverside Police Department said calls came in at approximately 5:40 a.m. reporting that an accident had occurred on Wood Road, north of Van Buren Boulevard.

When emergency services arrived at the scene, they found one of the two vehicles involved in the accident engulfed in flames.

When firefighters put out the fire, police said inside the vehicle They found two dead people.

According to preliminary investigations, Three teenagers were traveling in the car that caught fire, a gray Lexus sedan.while in the other vehicle involved, a blue Scion, there was an adult man as the only occupant.

Riverside authorities They have not revealed any of the identities of the people involved in the accident.

According to research, a 17-year-old boy was behind the wheel of the gray Lexus and was speeding northbound on Wood Road, and when he reached Van Buren Boulevard he ran the red light.

At that time, the man aboard the Scion I was crossing the intersection with a green light heading east when he collided with the Lexus.

After the collision with the Scion, the Lexus continued its momentum northward and crashed into a cement post, a wooden post and a tree before finally stopping and catching fire.

The driver, a 17-year-old man, and an 18-year-old womanwere found dead inside the Lexus after firefighters put out the flames.

Police said another passenger, 17 years old, He had serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital to receive medical attention.

The driver of the Scion He did not suffer any injuries from the accident. and remained at the scene, cooperating in the investigations with detectives.

Authorities said the Coroner’s Office would release the identity of the two teenagers who died in the accident. after your next of kin are notified.

“Alcohol and drugs are suspected contributing factors to this collisionas well as the excessive speed of the vehicle,” Riverside police said in a statement.
