Eva Mendes, a renowned actress who has been away from the cameras for more than ten years, has shared in recent interviews the possibility of returning to acting, although she has been clear in pointing out that this return would depend on a very special condition: sharing a scene with her husband, actor Ryan Gosling.
Mendes says that working alongside Gosling allows him to exploit his artistic potential in a way he has not experienced with other co-stars. Following his last significant role in “The Place Beyond the Pines,” where he starred alongside Gosling, Mendes has chosen to dedicate himself to his family and explore other aspects of the film industry, such as directing. However, it seems that the idea of acting again is still latent, especially if it involves sharing the set with your partner.
The actress expressed that “Only with him is a part of me that is not usually accessible released.”suggesting that the professional connection with her husband goes beyond the personal, and that this could be sufficient motivation to reconsider her retirement.
Acting was not his priority
Eva has pointed out on multiple occasions that her interest in acting was never absolute and that she felt more comfortable moving away from the spotlight to focus on raising her two daughters, Esmeralda and Amada. “At the time, it was a decision we made together,” Mendes commented in an interview with the Sunday Times about his retirement from the screen. “My children will only be little once, and I wanted to be present at every stage of their development.”. This perspective has allowed Mendes to restructure his life and establish clear priorities, which has been essential for his well-being and that of his family.
Support for your husband
Despite not being actively in film, Mendes has remained linked to the Hollywood environment and occasionally provides advice to Gosling for his projects, such as the recent success of “Barbie,” in which he played Ken. With a humorous tone, Mendes confessed that at some point she reminded her husband, before a key scene, that “It’s all about getting Barbie’s attention.”highlighting the complicity and closeness they share in their careers.
Although Eva Mendes has built a notable career with titles such as “Hitch”, “The Other Guys”, and “Girl in Progress”, the actress remains firm in her stance of returning to cinema only under the right conditions.
This possible reunion with the big screen with Gosling remains, for now, a distant possibility, but with a background that reflects his family values and the dedication he has cultivated in recent years.
