Club América strengthens its objective of avoiding the Liga MX playoffs after beating the Rayados de Monterrey with a tight 2-1.

André Jardine, América coach, highlighted the importance of this victory, stressing that the victory fuels the team’s dream of getting a direct ticket to the league, thus avoiding the play-off phase.

“This victory confirms that we can dream of avoiding the play-offs, but we are going step by step,” commented Jardine at the end of the match, aware of the importance of adding points to climb the standings.

The victory leaves the Águilas in ninth position, with 21 points, bringing them closer to their goal to reach the first six places in the table, necessary to directly access the league.

“Today was a decisive moment in which we had to win no matter what,” added the strategist, who showed satisfaction with the performance and character shown by his players.

Jardine highlighted the return of Fidalgo and Araujo

A key aspect of América’s performance was the return of Álvaro Fidalgo and Néstor Araujo, two important figures who had been out of the lineup due to injuries.

Jardine highlighted the importance of having them on the field again, which strengthens the squad and allows the team to work on consolidating the level that led them to success in previous tournaments.

“To the extent that we have the large number of players we have lost due to injury back”We are going to improve and get closer to the level that led us to win titles in past tournaments,” he emphasized.

The victory against Monterrey not only gives three important points, but also a key emotional boost for Américawho is now preparing to visit Mazatlán on the next day.

With the final phase getting closer and closer, the team knows that it cannot give ground if it wants to avoid the playoffs and position itself as a serious contender in the league.
