Costco announces salmon recall due to possible listeria contamination

Retail chain with price club format, Costco recently announced voluntary recall of salmon from supplier Acme Smoked Fish Corp due to possible contamination with listeria.

Through a statement, the executive director of Acme Smoked Fish Corp., Eduardo Carbajosa, indicated that “We regret this unfortunate incident and have taken immediate corrective action to ensure this issue does not occur again.”said.

According to the retail chain, the notice was given to Customers who purchased this Kirkland Signature brand product between October 9 and 13, According to the details, the affected lot has the number 8512801270.

Regarding recent contaminations in the food chain, Dr. Céline Gounder pointed out that “in every step of food processing there is the possibility of contamination. That’s the most important thing. Consumers want ready-to-eat foods, so of course they are processed more”, he highlighted.

Although no cases of contamination due to consumption of this product have been reported.Costco advised consumers to throw them away or return them to the store where they purchased them for their respective refund.
