A man who abused, tortured and murdered a 2-year-old child is captured in Colombia

Colombia is once again shaken by a bloody crime against a minor, a few days after the case of a girl murdered in a veterinary clinic. Now the victim is a child, Alexis Delgado Ramirezjust two years and eight months old, who had also been reported missing. The events occurred in the municipality of San Cayetano, Cundinamarca.

The minor’s mother, Luz Angélica Ramírez, received a call from her sister, who was in Alexis’ custody, informing her that her son had disappeared. For her part, the aunt was handing out flyers reporting the disappearance on Friday, October 18.

Luz Angélica told Noticias Caracol that His brother-in-law gave him confusing explanations about what happened. and even blamed her. To La Red Viral, the mother narrated another version given by her sister’s husband, according to which the child had been stolen or had been lost.

“On Saturday the news of the child’s disappearance broke. All authorities, headed by the Municipal Mayor, moved to the scene where an investigation was carried out,” reported the mayor of San Cayetano, Luis Alejandro Roncancio Rincón, according to Infobae.

Confusing versions and confession

The search continued until Alexis’s uncle, Carlos Steven Herrán Rodríguez, narrated one of his versions to the Prosecutor’s Office: that the minor fell from the horse twice and upon detecting that he had no vital signs, he buried him.

Another version given by himself was that, being in a state of intoxication, while riding a horse with the child, he dropped him. Also He said that Alexis died in an accident when he fell from a mule and, in a moment of desperation, he buried himaccording to El Espectador. But in yet another version, he said that he laid him down on his bed, where he died and then buried him.

Since Carlos Herrán voluntarily appeared to testify and was not flagrante delicto, he was not arrested. Until Thursday, October 24, an arrest warrant was issued against him, when Alexis’s body was found buried and covered with rocks on a farm.

“From there the alleged perpetrator was captured and transferred to the Pacho command, Cundinamarca, where he was voluntarily and moved by his own means to Mesitas del Colegio,” Mayor Ronancio explained to Infobae.

The Prosecutor’s Office has indicated that it has compelling evidence that incriminates the detainee. The report from the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences revealed that Alexis was subjected to physical torture before being asphyxiatedand was previously sexually abused.

Carlos Steven was charged by the Cundinamarca Sectional Prosecutor’s Office for the crimes of homicide, torture and violent sexual intercourse with a minor under 14 years of age.

The governor of Cundinamarca, Jorge Emilio Rey, spoke out and classified the uncle involved in this infamous act as “Scum” and stated bluntly: “Carlos Estiben Herrán Rodríguez is the culprit of these events. This human scum will be prosecuted for torture, homicide and violent carnal access”.

The municipality of San Cayetano stands out for its tranquility; He had never witnessed a crime of such terrible nature, which is why he is deeply affected.

“San Cayetano is totally paralyzed, since this is a peaceful municipality where there had not been a homicide for more than 15 years, where cases of this type had never happened in the history of San Cayetano. Therefore, we are totally dismayed,” declared Mayor Ronancio.

They ask for life imprisonment

In an interview with CityTV, Alexis’ father said that the captured man never showed any attitude that generated distrust, that he never imagined he would be capable of doing something like that. And he pleaded: “Let the authorities do their job and hopefully give that unfortunate man a life sentence, there was never any suspicion of him, we never imagined that the boy would do that.”

With tears in his eyes, he said: “I don’t understand how he could do this to my son, being part of our family.”.

For her part, Luz Angélica, in an interview with Caracol Radio, expressed her pain and demanded that the accused pay for the crime committed against her son. In addition, he blamed his sister as an accomplice.

“She knew the child was dead. When I confronted her, she told me to stay away. “She is an accomplice,” he indicated. “Let him return to prison because he had the child and also had custody,” he added.

According to data collected by the councilor of the Green party, María Clara Name, during 2024 there will be 15 femicides in minors and more than 1,103 boys, girls and adolescents reported missing in Colombia.
