Diego Forlán will debut in professional tennis at 45 years old

Former Uruguay national team player and soccer legend, Diego Forlán will be making his debut as a professional player of tennis in the Montevideo Challenger next November, together with Federico Coria, which would be the first tournament at this level for the Uruguayan at 45 years old.

Forlán, former player of Manchester United of the English Premier League, Villarreal and Atlético de Madrid of LaLiga of Spain, scored a total of 36 goals defending the colors of the light blue national team, he received the invitation along with Coria to play the doubles draw in the Montevideo Challenger.

Forlán’s numbers as a player

The former striker has played several matches on the ITF senior circuit, for those over 30 years oldit is also positioned in 744th place in the ranking of the +40 category and 108th in the +45 category.

It must also be remembered that Forlán so far this year 2024 has participated in a total of 11 official matches, all on clay, with a record of 8 wins and 3 losses.

Federico Coria, 32 years old, is number 101 in the ranking, and also has a YouTube channel under the name @fedecoriatenis, in which he shows the life of a professional tennis player, so it would not be strange to see Forlán in some videos on the Coria platform, especially in the Challenger of Montevideo.

Tournament dates

The aforementioned championship is the most important and most relevant tennis tournament in all of Uruguay, and It will be held from November 11 to 17 of this year.
