J Balvin, the iconic Colombian artist, has reflected on his hiatus from the public scene, a decision that has been marked by his personal and professional growth.
During his recent attendance at the Latin Billboard, where he received the Spirit of Hope award for his philanthropic work and leadership in music, Balvin was willing to share with La Opinión, details about this stage of his life.
“It’s really a new season. Because I didn’t stop making music. I didn’t stop spinning. If not, I stopped coming to public events like this and releasing many singles.”commented the paisa, revealing that his absence at massive events does not imply a cessation of his musical career.
In fact, his most recent album, “Rayo,” which came out on August 9, is a tribute to his first car, a symbol of his humble beginnings in a world where fame and success seemed far away.
The arrival of Rio, his son
The main reason behind his hiatus is deeply personal: the birth of his first child, Rio.
“I took some time to focus on my son, on my family, but always working”explained the singer, who was accompanied by his partner, Valentina Ferrer, at the ceremony.
Gender pride
Despite his break from red carpets, J Balvin’s achievements in music continue to resonate.
His influence has been a fundamental part of the growth of Colombian music internationally. “It has been very nice. A lot of work has been done for that reality”he expressed proudly, alluding to the success of other Colombian artists such as Karol G, Ryan Castro and Feid.
“I think it is the sum of many steps that we have taken, but I am not only talking about myself but about the genre as such and it fills me with great pride to see Ryan, to see Blessd, to see Feid, to see Karol; all so well and representing Colombia as it should be. With a lot of love, with a lot of peace, with a lot of tranquility and with a lot of professionalism”Balvin concluded, making it clear that his musical legacy goes beyond his individuality.
