A chase in northern Mexico ended with 3 hitmen dead and 3 police officers injured

Three alleged members of organized crime died and three agents were injured after a chase and a confrontation in the state of Nuevo León.

The events took place in the municipality of Ciénega de Flores, where officers identified the armed group that was traveling aboard a vehicle on the highway. The uniformed They intercepted them and asked them to stop the march.but the suspects ignored them, triggering a chase in which civilians shot at the authorities.

“The operation is a consequence of coordinated intelligence actions with federal forces to prevent armed groups from entering Nuevo León,” stated the state corporation Fuerza Civil in a statement.

In a press conference, the Secretary of Security of Nuevo León, Gerardo Escamilla, attributed the clashes between armed men and police to the authorities’ containment strategy against organized crime.

“We contain them in areas far from the metropolitan area of ​​Monterrey. “I think the strategy is correct,” he said.

Nuevo León, on the border with Texas, faces a wave of violence from organized crime and cartels that dispute the trafficking route to the United Statesso he has accumulated more than 1,000 murders so far this year.
