Puerto Rican singer Marc Anthony supports Vice President Kamala Harris in the presidential campaign and remembers how former President Donald Trump treated Puerto Rico during Hurricane Maria.
“Trump blocked billions of dollars in aid while thousands died […] When our families lacked clean water and electricity, Trump threw paper towels and called Puerto Rico ‘dirty and poor,’” the singer said in a campaign video.
The video is titled “I Remember,” where Anthony reminds Latinos how divisive Trump’s presidency was and the former president’s negative words and demonization of immigrants.
“Anthony criticized Trump for separating families and his lack of action when Puerto Ricans needed him after Hurricane Maria,” the campaign says.
The singer remembers that this election “goes far beyond political parties.”
“Let us remember what the United States represents and defends: united… That is why I support Kamala Harris for president,” he says. “He will separate children from their families and threaten to use the military to do it.”
The ad joins a campaign outreach plan for Vice President Harris and Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz.
There is an investment of $370 million dollars from the Harris-Walz campaign in television and digital reservations until election day, it was indicated.
“Recollection” will air nationally on Telemundo during this Sunday’s coverage of the 2024 Billboard Latin Music Awards and in Pennsylvania on Telemundo, Univision and WAPA TV, the campaign announced.
It will also continue its projection in high-audience programs, including soap operas and various programs.
