Competition for a Green Card for entrepreneurs, what is it about?

Tukki is a company that develops platforms to facilitate the visa process for artists, athletes, businessmen and people with specializations who want to migrate to the United States and this year it seeks to sponsor three Green Cards, at different levels.

The call is for entrepreneurs, who will be paid for the process to navigate the Green Card application process, that is, what an ordinary person would usually have to pay for the services that Tukki offers with its applications.

“Basically, the winner of the ‘pitch competition’ will receive a completely free Green Card visa process from us,” explained Ramiro Ceballos, co-founder and CEO of Tukki, which operates in Florida.

The winner will only have to pay the cost of the document to the Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) office.

Three prizes will be given: the first will cover the cost completely, the second will have a 50% discount and third place will have a 30% discount.

The deadline to compete is October 31 at 11:59 pm ET, but people must be a founder of a start-up.

“They must have at least five people working in the ‘start-up’ or have raised at least $250,000 in investment or have $250,000 in profit or have been accepted into an accelerator. [de negocios] reputable, like Y Combinator or similar,” he added. “The idea is precisely to give access to as many people as possible who are a good feed for this Visa. […]. No, we are necessarily going to prioritize a company that is 10 years old over a company that has just started.”

The judges are other entrepreneurs who work with Tukki, indicated Ceballos, who explained that the idea arose as part of the services that his company offers to people seeking to migrate to the United States with a particular visa.

“We want to combine experienced immigration lawyers who are really very good and are working to get visas and Green Cards for immigrants,” added Ceballos.

The most sought-after visas

Ceballos’ startup focuses on the administrative processing to properly apply for an O-1A visa, for people who demonstrate extraordinary achievements; the O-1B, which is for artists and athletes, or the EB-2, focused on people with advanced studies and very specific skills.

“To immigrate to the United States there are many visas, both non-immigrant, work visas, and Green Card. We started very localized in small quantities. Maybe because what we want to do is revolutionize this industry and we want to dramatically increase quality and it is very difficult to do that,” he said.

He added that Tukki takes care of the processes in detail, so that his clients obtain the visa they are looking for.

“Each client is different, each process is different, they have different needs. Today our absolute focus and the only visas we are doing today are visas […] of extraordinary talent […] for business people, athletes, educators and scientists, like O1B, which is for artists,” added the entrepreneur. “We are doing the EB-1A Green Card, which is also the Green Card for extraordinary talent.”

There are other visas, such as the EB2, focused on skills that a person may have and are of “national interest” for the US.

Tukki’s clients have been artists, business executives, investors, people who work with real estate, among others. The lawyers integrated into the process are experts in this type of visas.

“The truth is that the immigration process today is quite frustrating and stressful. And when you talk to most immigrants and ask them what their experience was like, the truth is that it was not the best,” he said.

Ceballos said that with “little technology” the immigration process can be facilitated, which can be tedious, filling out applications that are perhaps a thousand pages long and in which, in addition, “it is very easy to make mistakes, it is very easy to have to there are delays,” he explained.

“In other words, it is not that we sell lawyers, but that we directly work with the final immigrant and we bring lawyers on our side with whom we make partnerships and we also have our own operations team and technology,” he said.
