Eduardo Verástegui has been involved in a new controversy due to his comments about Wendy Guevara, the outstanding winner of the first season of “La Casa de los Famosos México.”

The controversy broke out after Verástegui, who is also known for his foray into politics, referred to Guevara as a “man,” which generated an intense debate about respect for gender identity.

It all started after Mario Bezares’ recent victory in the second season of the reality show. During an interview, the influencer Adrián Marcelo made a comment that ignited controversy, pointing out that Bezares was “the second man to win consecutively”referring to Guevara.

This statement was considered by many to be a direct attack on Wendy’s identity. Instead of qualifying the situation, Verástegui intensified the conflict by stating that only “men” had won the program.

The response on social media was rapid and polarizing. Many Internet users criticized Verástegui for his statements, accusing him of promoting hatred and intolerance.

“The difference between you and Wendy is that he came out of the closet and you prefer to hide in religion”, “Shut up homophobic.”, “What’s the point of making a transgender comment? Do you think the “god” you profess would be proud of your comment? “How disgusting that you use spirituality and religion for financial gain.”were some of the comments left by some users under the publication.

Meanwhile, others defended the actor, praising his outspokenness and commitment to his beliefs.

In an interview with Telemundo, Verástegui reaffirmed his comments, stating: “Wendy is a vato” and asking questions such as “Wendy, where are you going, to the gynecologist or the urologist?”. These words continued to polarize the audience, fueling the debate about inclusion and respect for gender identities in the field of entertainment.

Despite the criticism, some Verástegui followers supported him, praising his “bravery” for expressing his opinion. However, this controversy has reignited the discussion about respect for the LGBTQ+ community in Mexico, highlighting the need for a more inclusive and respectful dialogue.
