Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi promised that Tehran will respond with “more force”if Israel launches a retaliation attack for the Iranian missile bombardment on Tuesday, October 1.

“Our reaction to any attack by the Zionist regime (Israel) is clear,” Araghchi declared on a visit to the Syrian capital, Damascus, where he met with President Bashar al-Assad, an ally of Iran.

On October 1, Iran launched a barrage of 200 missiles against Israel. Tehran indicated that it was a retaliatory measure for the assassination of the leader of the Lebanese Hezbollah movement, Hasan Nasrallah, and the Iranian general Abas Nilforushan, killed on September 27 in a massive bombing on the southern outskirts of Beirut.

“For every action, there will be a proportional and similar reaction from Iran, and even stronger,” he said.

An Israeli military official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told AFP this Saturday that “Israeli army prepares response”.

Previously, Araghchi had reiterated from Damascus a call he made on Friday, October 4, for a ceasefire in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.
