Thousands of people demonstrated in marches in support of the Palestinian Territories around the worldon the eve of one year since the Hamas terrorist attack against Israel and the beginning of the military invasion of the Gaza Strip, which has cost the lives of more than 41,000 people so far.

From New Zealand to Europe, rallies of people calling for an end to the bombings in Gaza and the West Bank and an end to the Israeli government’s anti-Palestinian campaign have been reported.

The marches have passed peacefullyalthough in some strong police forces have been deployed and in several cities demonstrations have been banned to avoid “expressions of celebration” for the massacre of 1,200 people perpetrated by Hamas and Islamic Jihad. That was the case in Rome, where the Police Headquarters had prohibited the demonstration citing “public security reasons.” However, around 7,000 people gathered in the Plaza Ostiense in the Italian capital.

In London a couple of hundred people gathered in the city center carrying Palestinian flags and posters also calling for a ceasefire in Lebanon.

In other parts of the world, such as in cities of South Africa also saw marches to commemorate the October 7 attack in Israel. While in Bangkok, dozens of Thai and foreign demonstrators protested, shouting slogans such as “Bombing children is not self-defense” and demanding the freedom of Palestine.

Protest activities also began in New Zealand. The Palestine Solidarity Network group in Aotearoa (New Zealand) stated that there are dozens of events including a march organized for this Sunday between the Pukeahu war memorial and Odlins Square in Wellington. In Australia there will also be events in favor of Palestine, including a march in Sydney and a vigil on Monday, despite the Government’s attempts to stop the calls.
