A few days ago, the murder of a person was announced in the streets of Culiacán and in broad daylight, an event that is increasingly recurrent due to the internal war that the Sinaloa Cartel in that city.
However, the crime became relevant when it was reported that the victim was the president of the Sinaloa Regional Livestock Union, Faustino Hernández Álvarez.
And this person was not only an important livestock leader in the region, but he was also linked to the drug trafficker. Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada and he was even his compadre.
This was revealed by the Mexican journalist specialized in security issues Anabel Hernández, who referred to this murder during her podcast “Narcosistema”, recalling a fragment of the interview she did with Damaso López Serranoalias “El Mini-Lic”.
In said interview, the former drug trafficker who became a friend of Los Chapitos and is godson of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmánspoke about the relationship between Zambada García and Hernández Álvarez.
“The president of the cattle ranch, Faustino, is a friend of El Mayo. The president of the current cattle ranch just steals money to build ranches for El Mayo and his family. In the cattle ranch, the government gives you support… The family from El Mayo comes and says ‘I want to make a ranch’ and they give them three or four million,” López Serrano mentioned.
In addition to this, the journalist explained that, as part of the investigations she carried out years ago, she had found that “El Mayo” Zambada was the owner of a company known as “Nueva Industria Ganadera”, which produced milk and marketed it legally. with the support of the leader of the Sinaloa Livestock Union.
The crime
Hernández was murdered on the morning of September 30 in Culiacán, Sinaloa, in an attack that also took the life of his driver. The attack occurred when the victim was leaving his residence located in the exclusive Tres Ríos Urban Development.
His crime occurred in the middle of the war between two factions of the Sinaloa Cartel: Los Chapitos, led by the sons of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, and La Mayiza, led by Ismael Zambada Sicairosson of El Mayo Zambada.
In addition to being the leader of the Sinaloa Livestock Union, Hernández Álvarez also became councilor of Culiacán, twice a local deputy, and in the last electoral process he tried to be mayor of that city, but did not succeed.
