The Warning, three caring rock sisters

The sisters Paulina, Daniela and Alejandra Villarreal were still children when their fame exploded on social networks. The youngest of them was 9 years old.

“They bought us a video game and our inspiration was what we saw on the screen,” Alejandra said in a recent interview. “From there Pau started playing the drums, Daniela the guitar and me on the bass and vocals.”

Then the history of the only rock group formed by all women in Mexico began to be written.

The band originally from Monterrey began playing coversbut then he started writing his own songs. From 2014 to date, they have already released four albums, including the most recent, “Keep Me Fed,” whose single “Qué Más Quiero,” received a Latin Grammy nomination a few days ago in the category of Best Rock Song.

The person responsible for his fame is the song “Enter Sandman”, by Metallica, whose cover ten years ago went viral on social networks. After this experience, their fans began to ask them for more songs, and that was when the band began to add repertoire to their career.

Another characteristic of the group is that they sing in English and Spanish, something that was fortuitous because they only spoke Spanish, but when they realized that their songs were equally accepted in both languages, they had to learn the second. Furthermore, working with producers who did not speak Spanish also forced them to learn another language.

This has allowed them to travel all over the world. A few months ago they were in several cities in Europe, where they were received like celebrities, and currently, although rock is not at its best moment of popularity, being an alternative to rhythms like reggaeton, makes The Warning a type glass of water in the middle of an oasis.

“In Europe it was our third tour,” said Daniela. “We did 19 shows in 24 days.”

They are now in the middle of their United States tour, which will arrive on October 8 at the Glass House in Pomona, and on October 9 at The Bellwether theater in Los Angeles. Then he will go to cities in Canada, London, Mexico City, Madrid, Paris and Koln, Germany, among others. They will also pass through Japan.

The satisfactions don’t stop there. Paulina was recently named by Forbes Mexico magazine as the best drummer in the world, as well as one of the hundred most influential women in her country.

“Everything happened naturally,” Alejandra said. “We just have to work and keep it happening.”
