Miguel Herrera, former coach of the Mexico national team, He assured that the América strategists André Jardine and Toluca Renato Paiva should not talk about the Mexican team or the way they work to nurture the national teams, simply as a form of respect for football where they work and they receive their salary.
“Where they make a mistake is in talking about what players have to train.” or not for the national team, it is obvious that the rule must bother them, because as foreign technicians they are taking care of their job, of course.”
In statements to the newspaper Récord, Herrera clearly said that: “They shouldn’t be giving their opinion about the Mexican team, It is true that they work and get paid in this league, but I think they should have much more respect for our team, for the league it represents and for the country they are in.”
Herrera, however, also agreed with some points that both strategists mentioned who were against the application of the 20/11 minor rule that obviously affects them in the formation of their teams and in achieving results.
“I somewhat agree with them that teams have to train players for their teams, not thinking that they were going to the national team. You have to train players for your teams, and after that, if they are well trained and have quality, they will go to the national team. In the national team, the coach who is the coach will choose them,” said Herrera, who in the 2014 World Cup process took the bull by the horns in the Tricolor.
Miguel highlighted that the América coach does not care about training players and explained the reasons for the Brazilian strategist’s work philosophy: “With Jardine they have spent lavishly and they bring him players. One leaves, another arrives, he has no problem, that’s why he doesn’t care about training players, he doesn’t care that the América youth team produces players.”
He gave as an example the case of defender Ramón Juárez: “I gave him the opportunity to debut, just like Emilio Lara, but right now André Jardine doesn’t care that the Águilas youth team produces good players and I agree with him a little, because I believe that the obligation of the team itself and not the technician on duty.”
Miguel highlighted that: “Foreign technicians take care of their jobs, They know that they are measured by results and not by strengthening the roots, the bases of the teams, so I think that for that reason, it is better that both coaches show a little more respect for the Mexican team and dedicate themselves to work, in that case with the new rule for minors, which is something already established,” he concluded.
