The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky accused President Vladimir Putin at the UN of planning attacks against his nuclear power plantswhile assuring that he would “never” accept an imposed peace with Russia, when two and a half years of war have already passed.

“I recently received another alarming report from our intelligence service. It appears that Putin is now planning to attack our nuclear power plants and infrastructure in order to disconnect these facilities from the energy grid,” Zelensky said in his speech to the General Assembly.

“Any critical incident in the power system could cause a nuclear disaster”Such a day must never come. Moscow must understand this, and that depends in part on its determination and the pressure it puts on the aggressor,” he added.

As Russia continues its daily bombings of Ukrainian territory, Zelensky said that his country will “never” accept a peace imposed from outside.

“We Ukrainians will never accept it – we will never accept it – “Why would anyone in the world believe that such a brutal colonial past, which has no continuity today, could now be imposed on Ukraine?” Zelensky asked, questioning the motivations of China and Brazil to push for talks with Russia.

The Ukrainian president is expected to present to his US counterpart Joe Biden and Congress on Thursday in Washington the details of a “victory plan” that he says would put an end to the Russian invasion of his country, which began in February 2022.

US provides $375 million in weapons

The United States announced this Wednesday the delivery of 375 million dollars in military aid to Ukraine, a day before the planned Biden-Zelensky meeting.

In a statement, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the assistance will include, among other things, additional munitions and support for HIMARS rocket launchers, as well as armored vehicles, auxiliary equipment, training services and transportation.

“The United States is committed to defending Ukraine against Russia’s brutal aggression“Blinken’s statement said.

Earlier, Biden and Zelensky appeared alongside other G7 leaders at an event on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.

At that event, Biden says he will announce more aid for Ukraine on Thursday“I am determined to ensure that Ukraine has what it needs to prevail in its fight for survival. Tomorrow I will announce a series of measures to accelerate support for the Ukrainian military,” he said.
