The owner of the Chivas Amaury Vergara, On one of the few occasions that he has given an interview, he confirmed his mistakes when hiring the reinforcements who have arrived at the red and white team in recent years.
“We were wrong, I was wrong” “And I say that,” admitted Vergara. “We have brought in players, I have made mistakes and we have made important investments for players who did not perform or did not give what they had to give.”
In an interview for the podcast “Guardians of Tradition” Led by former Chivas figures Fernando Quirarte and Demetrio Madero, the businessman sought at all times to explain the reason for his controversial decisions.
“So, we have to be very smart, Because people say ‘ah, you don’t want to spend money, you don’t give a damn’. On the contrary, I care so much that I will be careful with the people who are in charge, the sporting director… because they also say ‘it’s that Amaury is getting involved’. I let the sporting director do his job.”
However, the owner of Chivas also assured that not all players They can join the Guadalajara team because their background, lifestyle, and family relationships are now being reviewed, all with the aim of combating indiscipline among the players.
“Not everyone can come to Chivas. I know that what I am going to say is very controversial, But there are many reasons why a player comes or doesn’t come. Speaking specifically about reinforcements, we analyze the player as a person, to see if he has the qualities to come.
“Because it is no longer enough for Chivas to bring players just for their position and how they play. We have to make sure that the player, his entourage, his family, do not come with vices, with undisciplined attitudes,” he said.
Finally, he referred to the prototype of players for the Guadalajara team: “There are players who can’t handle the pressure from Chivas. Suddenly we have to humanize them, I don’t judge them. Sometimes they can’t cope with the demands, with the pressure, and there have been times when the players, with their parents, have come to talk to us to say ‘please, let us go, we can’t cope with the pressure’.
The truth is that the owner of the Guadalajara team did not want to give names to this type of players: “I have no intention of naming names,” he concluded.
