Who qualifies for a tax refund of up to $1,000?

According to the Department of Revenue of the state of New Mexico, some taxpayers of that entity will be receiving a tax refund of up to $1,000 dollars which serves as economic relief in the face of high inflation that has driven up the prices of food, services and essential goods for two years, affecting the budgets of low-income families.

Residents eligible for this rebate are: Those taxpayers who declared their personal income tax (PIT) for the fiscal year 2021 before May 31, 2024. Additionally, the requirements include not having been declared as a dependent on any other tax return.

In this regard, Governor Lujan Grisham said that “the prices of basic products remain high throughout the country. Our state is in fantastic financial shape today and it’s important to me that New Mexico families share in that success.”, said.

Payments will be sent automatically, taxpayers do not need to submit an application, since they are already qualifying with their return. The money began to be issued at the end of June and The amounts range from $500 for single taxpayers up to $1,000. those who have a joint declarationis head of household or surviving spouse.
