Mazatlan police commander killed with more than 30 shots

In the Mexican state of Sinaloa, a war is raging that has left several victims and at least 40 people missing. One of the recent violent events was the murder of a police commander in Mazatlán, The man received more than 30 shots during his execution.

The commander of the Municipal Police of Mazatlán, Jesus Eduardo Paredes Galindowas shot dead inside his truck on September 19. The victim served as deputy director of the Mazatlán Municipal Police and was currently its commander. He was traveling on a major avenue when his vehicle was hit by at least 30 shots.

At the scene, the truck was found with its front window shattered, as well as the dead commander and a female companion, presumably injured by the explosion of the glass during the shooting.

The events occurred in broad daylight.around 3:45 p.m., in the midst of the terrible wave of violence that is ravaging the Mexican state of Sinaloa.

Violence in Sinaloa

In recent months, Sinaloa has become the epicenter of a wave of violence, resulting from the struggle between drug cartels and the armed forces.

According to the newspaper Milenio, there have not only been lethal attacks, such as the one that occurred to Jesús Eduardo Paredes, but also kidnappings and assaults on facilities of the National Defense Secretariat.

Meanwhile, local and federal authorities are making efforts to maintain peace in the state, deploying security and military agents and carrying out operations.

For its part, the business sector in Mazatlán stated that There is fear and uncertainty among the inhabitants as they cannot carry out their lives as usual.because every violent event affects the commercial sector; in addition, businesses are forced to close earlier than usual and modify their operating hours in order to avoid criminal acts.

These situations of violence are seriously affecting the population, which sees its mobility and even its freedom limited.

So much so that the celebration of the Grito de Independencia had to be cancelled throughout the state of Sinaloa due to the escalation of violence, attributed mainly to the fight between two factions of the Sinaloa Cartelfollowing the arrest of Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada.
