A woman who decapitated the father of her children and threw his head in the trash could serve between 15 years and life in prison as part of a plea deal.
Henderson police arrested Devyn Michaels46 years old, on August 15, 2023, for the murder of Johnathon Willettewhom he killed and decapitated at a residence at 2000 Pala Dura Drive.
Michaels pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder and, as part of the deal, would be eligible for parole after serving 15 years in prison.
As with all plea deals, sentencing is at the judge’s discretion, CBS affiliate 8News reported.
The shocking case came to light when The victim’s mother discovered the headless corpse along with a mixture of bleach and ammonia, so she called the police saying she found him “wrapped in blankets and bloody.”
“Johnathan’s head had been severed from his body and he was not observed to be in the room,” the arrest report viewed by the Las Vegas Review-Journal said.
Police smelled chemicals and saw smoke coming from the body who may have been sprayed with bleach and ammonia, local Fox affiliate KVVU reported.
Willette’s head was never found.Prosecutors believe the defendant took it to her Las Vegas home and threw it in the trash, where it was picked up during trash collection and taken to a landfill.
Police also found Willette’s wallet, ID and keys to his truck at the suspect’s home across town.
Following the investigation, he initially denied the murder and claimed that he left his home on the night of his death. He later He admitted to hitting him on the head with a wooden stick.but he assured that he only wanted to hospitalize him.
She also claimed Willette was abusive to her and alleged that he made her oldest son shower in front of him, according to an arrest report.
Michaels is scheduled to be sentenced for Willette’s murder on Oct. 31.
