In a rare unanimous bipartisan agreement, the House of Representatives on Friday approved a bill seeking to strengthen the security of former President Donald Trump, following the second assassination attempt against him.

Democrats and Republicans secured 405 votes to 0 to approve legislation HR9106, or the “Presidential Security Enhancement Act of 2024.”

The bill will now be sent to the Senate, where it is also expected to advance given the bipartisan stance on these issues.

The Senate has two options: approve the House bill or consider a similar proposal by Republican Rick Scott (Florida).

The bill was proposed by Republican Michael Lawler (New York) and originally sponsored by Democrat Richie Torres (New York).
