German Berterame, forward for the Rayados of Monterreywas suspended for two games for serious rough play resulting from the foul he committed against Colombian Avilés Hurtado of FC Juárez and which caused a fracture in the fibula.

In the face of this suspension imposed by the Disciplinary Commission of the Mexican Football Federationthe FC Juárez board considers that the sanction is very lenient given the severity of Hurtado’s injury, since the Colombian striker will have to be out of action for at least six months in order to correct this injury sustained in the match between Monterrey and the border team last Wednesday.

The medical report established the following diagnosis: “A complex deltoid ligament injury and anterior capsule, distal syndesmosis injury and non-displaced fibula fracture” and that according to initial reports will have a suspension of four to six months.

Without a doubt, the report of referee Salvador Pérez Villalobos The serious foul play that the Disciplinary Committee imposed on Berterame a two-match suspension for Hurtado has caused great discomfort among the board of directors of the Mexican team, who believe that the Mexican football penalty court should have investigated more thoroughly and made a decision in accordance with the seriousness of the foul.

How will it be remembered? In this match Berterame sweeps Hurtado from behind around minute 89 and this caused the affected player’s ankle to bend completely, causing the fracture, which was initially not considered so serious, but after the studies ordered by the Juarez team culminated in this unfortunate diagnosis for the aforementioned Colombian player.

In the action Berterame was expelled, but without yet measuring the consequences of his tackle on his opponent’s leg, which in the end was judged by the referee as serious rough play, without there being any other type of addition in the referee’s report to allow for a more thorough analysis of the facts.

The FC Juárez board of directors has considered that the Disciplinary Commission has not gathered all the arguments and evidence to determine a sanction more in line with the events that occurred at the BBVA stadium last Wednesday where Monterrey ended up beating FC Juárez 3-2 in the eighth matchday of the 2024 Apertura tournament of the Liga MX.

In this action, Berterame went in search of the ball, but found Avilés Hurtado’s leg and this resulted in a more serious injury than expected. For this reason, it was unofficially confirmed that FC Juárez will file a formal protest next Monday so that the situation can be analyzed and the relevant responsibilities can be determined, since without a doubt this type of actions that are within the game are not part of the Fair Play policy that Liga MX so preaches.
