Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga, stated last Wednesday that Real Madrid’s Brazilian striker, Vinícius Júnior, could be the next winner of the Ballon d’Or, despite the fact that he has completely distanced himself from any kind of controversy by stating that neither “Spain nor Spanish football are racist”.

“We have been working against racism for a long time. “Since what happened with Vinícius there has been a catharsis. Spain is not racist, there is collaboration between fans and those who insult. Since that day there is much more social awareness,” were part of the statements made by Javier Tebas in a speech at the Palacio de Congresos in Seville.

Mbappé is a success for La Liga

Tebas has explained, after having a participation with the journalist Alfredo Relaño at one of the activities that are part of the World Football Summit (WFS) held in the city of Seville, that the other great Real Madrid star, the French striker and member of the French national team, Kylian Mbappé, represents “a great impact for La Liga”, given that “his name alone already generates expectations”.

Despite this, the leader wanted to make it clear to the media of communication and independent journalists who waited for him, that “the achievements of the Spanish team in the Eurocup have also generated a lot of positive impact, in which the best” have been Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams, “two footballers who play in the Spanish League”.

Full support for Rodri on the calendar issue

In the middle of his conversation with Relaño, Javier Tebas stated his full “support for what Rodrigo (Hernández),” a midfielder for Manchester City in the English Premier League, said “about going on strike” as a way of protesting against a calendar that is too full of matches, since “it is time to say enough is enough and expand it with more matches.”

LaLiga has no intention of accepting at all “reduction of the “national competitions of 20 clubs as FIFA wants” because “more competitions are created for the clubs that collect the most. Everything is being done the wrong way. The wealth is not distributed appropriately. The new competitions do not generate more audiovisual income,” said Tebas.

The fight against piracy is a fact

In this sense, Javier Tebas admitted without any problem “Fighting piracy is one of the great challenges of the football industry”, which, today, does not know “how to tackle the problem without knowing the actors involved”, although he assured that “Google is the main cause of piracy”.

According to LaLiga’s calculations, “this phenomenon” encourages “a loss of 600 million for football” since “one in three consumers does not pay” and in countries like Argentina this rate reaches up to 60%, so he hopes that “the authorities take this seriously” because “Google has no interest in solving the problem: if the American company collaborated”, “piracy would decrease by 80%”, he specified.
