Diamond League to award highest prize money in history to athletes: How much will they earn?

Athletes will receive million-dollar prize money in the Diamond Leagues from 2025 onwards, the largest in history. Prizes will be over $9 million, which is almost a third of the total. more than the amount paid during the pandemic-affected period from 2021 to 2024.

The new monetary prizes for athletes, the highest in the history of the series, will be applied starting next season, as approved by the General Assembly of the organization, which estimated the amount at $9,240,000 dollars.

That figure is almost a third higher than the sum paid during the pandemic-affected period from 2021 to 2024 and the highest since the launch of the Diamond League in 2010.

Including promotional fees for top athletes, a total of around $18 million will be paid to athletes over the course of the 2025 season. Many more millions will be invested in services for athletes, such as travel and transportation, accommodation, and medical and physiotherapy provisions.

How much will athletes earn per event?

Under the new structure, the total prize money awarded per match will be $500,000 dollars in each of the fourteen regular season matches and $2,240,000 in the Diamond League final.

The total prize money per discipline will be between $30,000 and $50,000 dollars. at the series meetings and between $60,000 and $100,000 at the finals.

Prize money is completely equal between men and women. with exactly the same rates for male and female athletes.

The increase will also apply to all 32 Diamond disciplines, benefiting athletes across the spectrum of athletics.

Since 2010, the series and its encounters have invested approximately $270 million in athletes spread across 180 countries in promotional fees and prize money and around 90 in services for athletes.
