Sheynnis Palacios, the current Miss Universe, has been enjoying an unforgettable experience in Peru, and has shared with her followers a series of photos that reflect her amazement and admiration for the South American country.
Palacios, who is currently in the final phase of her reign, is undertaking an international tour as part of her responsibilities as a beauty ambassador. On her social media, the Nicaraguan has shown images of her visits to some of the most emblematic places in the world, this one being Peru.
Over the past few days, the beauty queen has been exploring the majestic city of Cusco and immersing herself in the country’s rich ancestral culture. Among the featured photos, Palacios can be seen in a colorful Andean poncho and black sombrero, smiling as she tours the stunning ruins of Machu Picchu, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
“Thank you, Peru. I am leaving in love with your natural and spiritual beauty,” Palacios wrote, capturing his deep connection to the country.
Dazzling experiences
During a spiritual ceremony with a shaman, Palacios experienced a profound and emotional moment, expressing clear gratitude and emotion.
Her journey was also marked by special encounters with local wildlife, such as feeding vicuñas and alpacas, animals native to the Andes that provide wool for exceptional textiles. In addition, the beauty queen immersed herself in ancestral rituals, wearing traditional attire and embracing the role of an Incan goddess, thus reflecting her respect and admiration for indigenous traditions.
The controversy over her photos with wild animals
Sheynnis’ itinerary has included a number of diverse experiences, including safaris in Africa.
During her visit to Kenya, the model had the opportunity to pose next to a jaguar that, surprisingly, was trained to pose with tourists. This interaction sparked a wave of comments and outrage on her social networks.
“I love the photos… BUT hahaha there is always a but. Wild animals are not for this”, “What a shame but if you pose with an animal you are complicit in abuse and exploitation, very sad that a person who is an ambassador for many social causes does this”, “Animals are not toys 🐆🙅🏼”were some of the comments left on the post.
A historic victory for Nicaragua
In 2023, Palacios made history by becoming the first Nicaraguan to win the Miss Universe title. This victory not only marked a milestone for Nicaragua, but also launched her into global stardom, allowing her to represent her country at international events and participate in multiple activities and engagements around the world.
