Renowned reggaeton singer Nicky Jam has decided to show his support for Donald Trump in his campaign for the 2024 presidential elections, thus joining a group of Latin artists who support the former president.

During a rally in Las Vegas, the Puerto Rican singer appeared on stage alongside Trump, in an event that was not without awkward moments and comments that generated controversy.

In a confusing episode, Trump initially referred to the singer in the feminine: “Do you know Nicky? She’s great. Where’s Nicky?”. Realizing his mistake, he corrected himself: “Oh, I’m glad he came up.”. Without showing any discomfort, Nicky Jam went on stage wearing a red baseball cap. “Make America Great Again” and addressed the public, expressing his support for the former president. “It is an honor to meet you, Mr. President”he commented. “People from my background don’t often get the chance to meet the president. I’m lucky.”He added forcefully: “We need you. We need you back.”.

Beyond his support for Trump, Nicky He launched strong criticism of the current government of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. In Spanish, he said during the event: “It’s been 4 years and nothing has happened”referring to what he sees as a lack of progress under the current administration. This comment further fueled the debate between his supporters and the Latino community.

Fans and their divided opinions

The singer’s support for Trump has not gone unnoticed and has generated a great deal of reaction, both for and against.

On his social media, Nicky Jam took Trump’s mistake with humor, sharing a meme in which he calls himself “Nicky Jam, the filly, the bitch”alluding to popular expressions by artists Ivy Queen and Karol G.

However, criticism was not long in coming, especially from supporters who recalled his previous support for DACA beneficiaries in 2018, when he defended young immigrants who arrived in the United States without documentation.

“Trump2024!!! 👏👏”, “😂😂😂😂 Nicky was the only one to hug Donald Trump, Nicky is super cool 😎.”, “She is sooo hot!! Tell me, Mommy 😂😂😂😂😂”, “Sad to support someone who doesn’t even know who you are…. 😂”, “Wow. How low you have fallen.”were some of the comments from Nicky’s followers under the post.

The wave of pro-Trump reggaeton singers

He is not the only reggaeton artist who has shown his support for Trump.

Anuel AA and Justin Quiles have also taken to the former president’s platform at recent events, sparking speculation about the impact of these figures on the Latino vote. The endorsements of these artists could have implications for how Latino voters, especially Puerto Ricans, perceive Trump’s campaign and his promise to return to power.
