The long-awaited debut of prospect Luisangel Acuña has finally arrived with the New York Mets organization in Major League Baseball this weekend, marking a milestone for his entire family and allowing him to write a new page in the record book and history of Venezuela in Major League Baseball (MLB).

Luisangel, upon debuting, joins his older brother, the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the National League with the Atlanta Braves, Ronald Acuña Júnior, to form the tenth pair of Venezuelan brothers who have made a living in Major League Baseball. It should also be noted that they are joining a rather select list of very bright and big names.

More Acuña brothers can join

There is a high probability that the family named Acuñathis episode is just beginning since, in fact, there are many chances that the natives of La Sabana, can become the first 3 brothers in the big top, since a third named Bryan, is part of the Major League Baseball system. There is even a fourth brother, Kenny, who at 12 years of age is already seen as one of the most sought-after prospects in baseball and who could possibly make the jump to the professional world by 2026.

The Pérez family was, until now, the last to make a living on this list. Veteran catcher Carlos Eduardo Pérez was joined in 2022 by young catcher Carlos Jesús Pérez. Four pairs of brothers are still active in professional baseball: the Contreras, the Suárez, the Pérez and the Acuña.

We will have to wait until next season to see them in action. both brothers in the Major Leagues and face each other, since Acuña Júnior lost the current season after a serious injury to one of his knees, from which he is already in the process of recovering for the next campaign.
