Jackson Chourio is just in his first year in the Major Leagues and he continues to make history. The Venezuelan from the Milwaukee Brewers became the youngest player in history to achieve a 20-homer and 20-stolen base season.

Chourio hit his 20th homer of the season to right field at San Francisco’s Oracle Park. Only three players in Major League history have a 20-homer, 20-stolen-base season by the age of 20.

The young Venezuelan joins Mike Trout (2012) and Vada Pinson (1959) as the sluggers to make the 20/20 mark. Chourio is the first Venezuelan rookie with his first season of 20 homers and 20 steals.

Chourio has a .272 batting average with 126 hits, 20 homers, 71 RBIs and 71 runs scored in 132 games this season. Among Venezuelan players, the 20-year-old outfielder became the seventh Venezuelan with a 20/20 campaign.

  • Bobby Abreu – (1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008, 2010)
  • Carlos Gonzalez – (2010, 2011 2012 and 2013)
  • Ronald Acuña Jr. – (2019 and 2023)
  • Jose Altuve (2016 and 2017)
  • Jackson Chourio (2024)
  • Elvis Andrus (2017)
  • Magglio Ordonez (2001)

Chourio also became the tenth Milwaukee Brewers player with a 20/20 season, the youngest to do so. The Maracaibo native is the first to do so since the 2019 season when Christian Yelich did it.

The 20-year-old Venezuelan talent will surely be one of the candidates for the National League Rookie of the Year award, although he will not have an easy battle.

Rookies Paul Skenes (Pittsburgh Pirates) and Jackson Merrill (San Diego Padres) are two of the favorites to win the award this year.
